This product is being marketed in Nigeria under the guise of the legitimate ORACARE+ Toothpaste, raising significant health concerns for consumers.

The alert, released on September 14, 2026, follows a formal complaint and a market intelligence report that highlighted the widespread distribution of the suspected counterfeit item. NAFDAC's market surveillance efforts, particularly at Ojuwoye Market in Mushin, Lagos, revealed that the counterfeit toothpaste closely mimics the packaging and overall presentation of the registered ORACARE+ Toothpaste, making it challenging for consumers to differentiate between the two.

NAFDAC has emphasized that the counterfeit toothpaste may not adhere to established quality and safety standards, potentially posing health risks to those who use it. In response to this alarming situation, the agency has activated surveillance operations and directed all zonal directors and state coordinators to investigate the availability and distribution of the suspected fake product. Appropriate regulatory actions will be taken based on their findings.

Consumers, distributors, retailers, and healthcare providers are urged to exercise caution when purchasing toothpaste products, particularly ORACARE+. NAFDAC recommends that purchases be made only from reputable and authorized outlets.
