Arkansas inmate Rodney Jermaine Smith escapes jail after assaulting guards
Rodney Jermaine Smith, 41, escaped from Brinkley Police Department Jail after attacking two officers.

Authorities in Arkansas are on the hunt for Rodney Jermaine Smith, a 41-year-old inmate who escaped from the Brinkley Police Department Jail in Monroe County. The incident occurred on Thursday, October 29, when Smith allegedly assaulted two law enforcement officers and seized a Taser before fleeing the facility on foot.
Following the escape, Smith was reportedly spotted walking along nearby railway tracks. At the time of his escape, he was dressed in a white T-shirt, yellow jumpsuit trousers, and white socks, but he was barefoot. Officials have noted that Smith has numerous tattoos on his neck and arms, which could aid in his identification.
Smith has been incarcerated since 2013, with a criminal record that includes multiple charges such as firearms possession, two counts of drug possession, possession of a firearm by certain persons, and forgery. However, it remains unclear if he has been held continuously at the Brinkley facility since his incarceration began.
This escape comes amid heightened concerns regarding prison security, particularly following a separate incident in Tennessee involving Jacob Allen Morley, a convicted murderer who also escaped from prison recently. Morley reportedly stole a truck during his escape, prompting a search by authorities who have offered a $2,500 reward for information leading to his recapture.
As of now, no reward has been announced for information regarding Smith's whereabouts. Law enforcement agencies are urging the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings of the escaped inmate as the search continues.
