The Plateau State Government has expressed deep concern over recent violent attacks that occurred in Mangu Local Government Area and Jos South, resulting in fatalities and injuries among residents. In a statement released on Monday, the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Joyce Lohya Ramnap, condemned the violence and urged the community to refrain from retaliatory actions.

The attacks took place on September 12 and 13, 2026, with reports indicating that several lives were lost in Mangu and a separate incident at Dungus Junction in Jos South. The government described these events as profoundly disturbing, especially given ongoing efforts to enhance security through collaboration with various stakeholders, including security agencies, traditional institutions, and community leaders.

In light of the recent violence, the Plateau State Government has called on residents to cooperate with security forces. The statement emphasized the importance of vigilance and timely reporting of suspicious activities to prevent further attacks and to aid in the apprehension of those responsible.

The administration under Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and security across the state. The government underscored that protecting lives and property is central to its vision of fostering an environment where citizens can live and work without fear.

Furthermore, the government extended condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery for those injured in the attacks. The Commissioner assured affected communities that the government shares in their grief and is dedicated to working tirelessly to secure the state.

In response to the incidents, security personnel have been deployed to the affected areas in Mangu and Kuru. The government plans to continue engaging with traditional and community leaders to promote dialogue and prevent further escalation of violence. The administration's appeal to resist the temptation for reprisal attacks highlights its focus on peace-building and community cohesion during these challenging times.
