A tragic incident has unfolded in Akure, Ondo State, where Samuel Jonah, a 38-year-old father, is mourning the loss of his three children, whose bodies were discovered under mysterious circumstances inside the 32 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army. The children, who were last seen on September 3, 2026, went missing during a family outing to their farm located within the barracks.

According to Jonah, he and his children had gone to the farm to harvest groundnuts, accompanied by their mother. After spending some time together, he left the children to run an errand in town, instructing them to return home by 6 PM. When he returned later that evening, his children were nowhere to be found, prompting him to search for them.

In his desperate search, Jonah reported their disappearance to a military police officer at the barracks. However, he was advised to continue looking for them until 24 hours had passed before any formal action could be taken. Despite his efforts, including checking with church members and local police, the children remained missing until the following day when he received a call from a soldier informing him that they had been found.

Upon arriving at the scene, Jonah learned that his children had been discovered in a small stream near their farm. Disturbingly, he noted that their bodies were covered with leaves and showed signs of bleeding from their ears and noses, raising immediate suspicions about the cause of their deaths. "I had never seen someone die in water and bleed like that," Jonah expressed, questioning the possibility of drowning given the condition of their bodies.

Jonah suspects foul play may have been involved, potentially by bandits or other malicious individuals, although he has no specific evidence against anyone. He expressed his grief and frustration, stating, "I have left everything to God. I have no fight left concerning the death of my children. I believe God will fight for me."

The police have since taken Jonah's statement and assured him that an investigation will commence. However, he has expressed a lack of resources to pursue any legal action against the military or anyone else involved. Jonah is calling for a thorough investigation into the incident, hoping that the government will uncover the truth behind the mysterious deaths of his children.

This incident is not the first of its kind in the barracks, as Jonah recalled a similar case in 2020 where a child was found dead with one arm missing. He has lived in Akure since 2003 and has been farming within the barracks without any prior issues. The loss of his three children, who were his only offspring, has left him devastated, as he now seeks answers and justice for their untimely deaths.
