Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has officially inaugurated four new government bodies, emphasizing the need for integrity and commitment among their members. The ceremony took place at the Government House in Benin City on Thursday, where the governor charged the appointees to prioritize public service above personal interests.

The newly inaugurated bodies include the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Consumer Protection Committee, and the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency. During his address, Okpebholo highlighted the significant responsibilities that come with their appointments, urging the members to serve the people of Edo State diligently.

In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Patrick Ebojele, the governor reminded the appointees that their duties extend beyond mere obligations to the state. "I wish to remind you that this is not merely a responsibility to the people; it is also a responsibility before God," he stated, reinforcing the moral weight of their roles.

Okpebholo called for unity among the members, urging them to work collaboratively to ensure that their decisions yield tangible benefits for the residents of Edo. "I therefore urge you to work together in unity, placing the interests of the people above personal considerations. May your decisions and actions produce meaningful results and create a lasting positive impact," he added.

The newly appointed members expressed their gratitude to the governor for the opportunity to serve. Very Rev. Fr. Alfred Aronegbe Agbonlahor, chairman of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, pledged to diligently promote the interests of Christian pilgrims in the state. Similarly, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, commended the governor's commitment to the welfare of pilgrims and assured that the board would support the government in providing efficient services.

Additionally, Momodu Oghenakhoghie Goodluck was inaugurated as the Director-General of the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by key officials, including the Deputy Governor Dennis Idahosa, Secretary to the State Government Umar Musa Ikhilor, and Chief of Staff to the Governor Yakubu Musa, among other dignitaries.
