In a significant development for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, disgruntled House of Assembly aspirants have reconciled their differences with the party, pledging their support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and the APC's governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, in the upcoming 2027 elections.

The reconciliation was announced by Alhaji Mufutau Adisa, Chairman of the state APC House of Assembly Reconciliation Committee, during a stakeholders' meeting and press conference held at the International Conference Centre in Ibadan on Sunday. Adisa stated that the aggrieved aspirants had agreed to abide by the party's decisions regarding the outcomes of the primaries, which had previously caused unrest among party members.

Many aspirants had voiced their dissatisfaction with the candidate selection process during the primaries, leading to protests and the establishment of several reconciliation committees, including the one led by Adisa. He emphasized that while the aspirants had the right to express their grievances, it was crucial for the party's interests to take precedence. "We thank the aggrieved aspirants and members for their resolve to drop their personal ambitions," Adisa remarked, highlighting the importance of unity within the party.

Co-Chairman of the committee, Abisoye Fagade, echoed these sentiments, noting that most aspirants, regardless of whether they participated in the primaries or purchased nomination forms, had shown commendable sportsmanship and commitment to the party's unity. He reported that they have expressed their readiness to collaborate with each other and the party leadership to secure electoral victories in 2027.

The reconciled aspirants have committed to supporting not only the re-election of President Tinubu but also the election of APC candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives, and the Oyo State House of Assembly. Fagade praised the aspirants for prioritizing the party's overall interest over individual ambitions, which he believes will strengthen the APC across the state.

Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Co-Chairman of the state Gubernatorial Reconciliation Committee, emphasized the need for unity among party members, sharing his own experiences of winning and losing elections. He commended the aspirants for their decision to work for the party's interest, stating that they have made the right choice.

In a related note, Bayo Adelabu, a former Minister of Power and one of the aspirants, recently announced his decision to step back from pursuing his gubernatorial ambition. He clarified that this choice was not due to a lack of confidence but was made in the interest of party stability and progress ahead of the elections. Adelabu highlighted that he had consulted with party leaders and supporters across the state before reaching this conclusion.

The reconciliation efforts within the Oyo APC appear to be a strategic move to present a united front as the party gears up for the 2027 elections, reflecting a commitment to overcoming internal divisions for the greater good of the party's future.
