Three candidates from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi State have publicly rejected allegations that they are being funded to undermine the party's governorship candidate, Abubakar Malami. The candidates, Abubakar Sadiq Sa’adu Fakai, Muhammad Umar, and Nafiu Bello Shuwa, are currently embroiled in a legal battle over their alleged replacement following the party’s primaries.

In a statement released on Saturday, the trio described the claims of being sponsored to incite discord within the party as unfounded. They asserted that their primary concern is to challenge the legitimacy of their replacements, which they argue was a result of forgery. The candidates accused certain party members of fabricating affidavits and documents that falsely indicate they had voluntarily withdrawn their candidacies.

Fakai, who spoke on behalf of the group, emphasized their commitment to legally reclaim their positions. "For clarification’s sake, we are not fighting Malami, ADC, or anybody, but we remain undeterred in our legal struggle to reclaim our stolen mandates by the alleged forgers in our party, whom we believe are not after the success of our party," he stated.

The candidates maintain that they are valid contenders and are exercising their rights to seek legal recourse through the courts. Fakai further highlighted that the alleged forgery transcends mere party disputes, categorizing it as a criminal act that warrants legal consequences.

The ongoing crisis within the Kebbi ADC has raised concerns about party unity, with the candidates accusing some supporters of Malami of engaging in actions that could further divide the party and jeopardize the governorship candidate’s prospects.

Despite the turmoil, the three candidates reaffirmed their loyalty to the ADC and its members, whom they regard as legitimate and dedicated. They reiterated their determination to pursue their legal challenges while remaining steadfast in their commitment to the party's integrity and success.
