The First Lady of Jigawa State, Dr Amina Umar Namadi, has initiated a significant empowerment program aimed at uplifting widows in the Garki Local Government Area. The program, which took place on August 22, 2026, involved the distribution of sewing machines and grinding machines to selected beneficiaries from various wards within the local government.

During the launch at the Garki Local Government Secretariat, Dr Namadi, who is affectionately known as "Uwar Marayu" or Mother of Orphans, emphasized the importance of equipping widows with practical tools and skills. She stated that this initiative would not only support the widows but also have a positive ripple effect on their families and communities. "Empowering our mothers, especially widows, is empowering the future of our children and society," she remarked, highlighting the program's broader societal impact.

Hon. Adamu Hudu Kore, the Executive Chairman of Garki LGA, explained that the selection of beneficiaries was carried out to ensure fairness and inclusivity. He noted that the initiative aligns with both the Renewed Hope Agenda and the Jigawa State Government's 12-Point Agenda, which focuses on supporting women and vulnerable groups.
