ADC warns APC that Jigawa's 35th anniversary could mark end of its rule
The ADC cautions the APC in Jigawa State to prioritize citizen welfare ahead of 2027 elections.

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has issued a stark warning to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jigawa State, suggesting that the state's 35th anniversary celebration might be the last for the current administration if it fails to address the concerns of its citizens. This message was delivered by Malam Aminu Ibrahim Ringim, the ADC's Deputy Governorship candidate, during a goodwill address commemorating the anniversary.
Ringim emphasized that the people of Jigawa are closely monitoring the government's actions as the 2027 general elections approach. He urged that the anniversary should serve not only as a moment of celebration but also as a crucial opportunity for reflection and accountability regarding the state's development progress.
"To the APC government, I say this respectfully but clearly: if you must celebrate Jigawa’s 35th anniversary in office, then celebrate it knowing that it may be your last Jigawa anniversary in office," he stated, indicating the growing discontent among the populace regarding government performance.
The ADC leader pointed out that citizens are evaluating the government's promises against actual outcomes, demanding a development agenda that yields tangible results rather than mere ceremonial events. He highlighted critical areas needing urgent attention, including education, healthcare, agriculture, employment opportunities, and infrastructure improvements.
In addition to these concerns, Ringim raised alarms about environmental issues such as flooding, poor drainage systems, and inadequate waste management in regions like Hadejia. He called for proactive measures from the government, urging engagement with communities and traditional institutions to prevent such challenges from escalating into emergencies.
Furthermore, Ringim addressed the economic hardships faced by Nigerians, particularly in light of the recent removal of subsidies, which has led to increased costs for transportation, food, and other essentials. He advocated for policies aimed at alleviating the economic burden on citizens and restoring their purchasing power.
The ADC Deputy Governorship candidate also stressed the importance of listening to various stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil society organizations, professionals, women, youths, and persons living with disabilities, all of whom can contribute significantly to the state’s development.
In his message, Ringim acknowledged the efforts of past leaders and the contributions of the founding generation, while also praying for peace, security, and prosperity for families throughout Jigawa State and Nigeria as a whole.
