The Ogun State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ganiyu Hamzat, has called on residents of rural communities to take active measures in protecting public infrastructure developed by the government. This appeal was made during the inauguration of several developmental projects in Yewa North Local Government Area, which aim to enhance the quality of life at the grassroots level.

Represented by Dr. Rotimiolu Akinlesi, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Hamzat highlighted the importance of community involvement in the maintenance of newly constructed facilities. The projects inaugurated include a Primary Health Centre equipped with essential medical tools and a motorized borehole located in Igbokofi, Emado, as well as a block of three classrooms at Igan-Alade, complete with chairs and desks. Additionally, significant renovations were made to the YNLG Multipurpose Town Hall and Osoba Shopping Complex in Ayetoro, among other facilities.

During the event, Hamzat commended the leadership of the local government for their commitment to the state’s developmental agenda. He emphasized that the sustainability of these projects relies heavily on the residents' willingness to protect and maintain them. "Development is a collective responsibility, and the people must support the government by protecting public infrastructure," he stated.

Dr. Olusola Akinbode, the Chairman of Yewa North Local Government, reiterated the administration's commitment to improving the socio-economic conditions of the community. He expressed confidence that the new projects would not only enhance access to basic social amenities but also stimulate economic activities by providing better opportunities for traders, artisans, and farmers in the area.

Akinbode assured the community that his administration would continue to prioritize projects that directly impact residents' lives. "You entrusted your votes to us; therefore, I assure you that we will not disappoint you, as we continue to work for the success and wellbeing of everyone," he said.

Community leaders, including elder statesman Pa Olu Agemo and Alhaji Bisiriyu Popoola, praised the local government for these initiatives, noting that they reflect the potential of grassroots governance to deliver tangible benefits to the populace. Chief Gabriel Adeosun, the local APC Chairman, also expressed his support for the renovations, stating that they would enhance commercial activities and create a more conducive environment for business.

The Ogun State government, under its "Building Our Future Together" agenda, continues to emphasize the importance of community engagement in governance, aiming to foster a collaborative environment where residents feel empowered to contribute to their local development.
