The Kebbi State Police Command has successfully recovered a substantial quantity of stolen electricity service cables and apprehended a suspect in Bunza Local Government Area. The operation took place on August 25, 2026, in response to growing concerns over the theft and vandalism of electricity infrastructure in the region.

During the police operation in the Kara area of Bunza town, officers seized 10 bundles and seven sacks of electricity cables. This recovery is part of ongoing efforts by the police to combat the persistent vandalism that has left several communities without power, disrupting electricity supply to residents.

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, the theft of these cables has significantly impacted local communities, plunging them into darkness. The arrested suspect, identified as Mustapha Abubakar, has been charged in connection with the stolen cables and is currently facing legal proceedings.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Umar M. Hadejia, emphasized the command's commitment to safeguarding critical national assets and ensuring that those involved in their theft and destruction are brought to justice.
