Senator Muhammad Adamu Aliero has called for urgent federal intervention in Kebbi State due to escalating bandit attacks that have displaced numerous residents in Jega and Maiyama local government areas. The senator, representing Kebbi Central, raised the alarm during a motion on matters of urgent national importance in the Senate, highlighting the dire security situation resulting from an influx of bandits fleeing military operations in neighboring Zamfara and Sokoto states.

In his motion, Aliero detailed how surviving bandits have reportedly infiltrated local communities, creating new security threats and prompting residents to abandon their homes. He identified several affected areas, including Jan Dutsi, Agada, Kimba, Alelu, Tanja, Jadadi, Bawanka, Kaba, Zugu, Tafkin Kada, and Gehuru.

The senator expressed grave concerns about the impact of these attacks, which have led to intimidation, destruction of property, and loss of lives. Many residents have sought refuge in the headquarters of Jega and Maiyama local government areas, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in the region.

Aliero also brought attention to the tragic killing of three employees of Hi-Tech, the company working on the Badagry–Sokoto Superhighway project, amid the ongoing security challenges. While he acknowledged the efforts of the Kebbi State Government in providing shelter, food, and assistance to the displaced, he emphasized that the scale of the crisis necessitates additional federal support.

He urged the Federal Government to enhance the capabilities of security agencies by providing necessary personnel, equipment, and logistical support to effectively combat the banditry and restore safety in affected communities. Furthermore, Aliero called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to assess the needs of displaced residents and to deliver essential relief materials, including food, water, temporary shelter, and medical supplies.

In his appeal, Aliero stressed the importance of coordinated efforts between federal and state governments to address both security and humanitarian needs, ensuring that displaced residents can safely return to their homes once the situation stabilizes. The senator's call for urgent action underscores the growing concern over the deteriorating security landscape in Kebbi State and the need for immediate intervention to protect vulnerable communities.
