A Nigerian doctor has sparked a debate online after he publicly berated a mother for placing sliced onions under her baby's feet as a home remedy for a cold.

A video of the mother carrying out the traditional practice on her baby made the rounds on social media on Monday, August 25r. Reacting to the video, the Nigerian doctor wrote

" Any mum that does this needs to be jailed and the baby taken from her''
