The management of Nigerian dancer and socialite Iweh Odinaka, popularly known as Poco Lee, has issued a statement clarifying that allegations of drink spiking are not included in the charges against him in the United Kingdom. This clarification comes as public speculation grows regarding the nature of the legal proceedings he is currently facing.

In a statement released on Tuesday and shared on Instagram by Adedoyin Faleye, the management urged the public and media to refrain from making comments about the ongoing case, which is set to be heard in court. They emphasized that the allegations circulating in the media should not be taken as evidence of guilt, stressing the importance of allowing the legal process to unfold without external influence.

The statement read, "We are aware of the ongoing public discussion surrounding allegations made against our client, Poco Lee, currently before the courts in the United Kingdom. As this matter is now subject to legal proceedings, we urge the public, media, and all well-meaning individuals to exercise restraint in commenting on the details of the case."

Poco Lee is scheduled to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 15, 2026, for plea and trial preparation concerning an assault charge. The court confirmed this date in correspondence with Punch Newspapers, following inquiries about the case. The court's Admin Team Lead, James Baker, noted that the criminal court hearings are open to the public, although specific details regarding the timing and courtroom will only be available closer to the date of the hearing.

The management's statement specifically addressed the unverified narratives circulating in the media, including the drink-spiking claims, which they stated do not pertain to the charges currently before the court. They expressed concern that such misinformation could lead to unfair prejudice against those involved in the case.

They further emphasized the right of every individual to a fair hearing, stating, "Every individual is entitled to a fair hearing and to have their matter determined by due process of law, not by public opinion. We respectfully request that this right be respected in this instance, as it would be for anyone else."

While the founder of the Community of Nigerians in the United Kingdom, Benjamin Kuti, had previously indicated that Poco Lee was in a UK prison, the court has not provided additional details regarding the allegations beyond confirming the upcoming plea and trial preparation date. As it stands, Poco Lee has not been convicted of any crime, and the legal proceedings will determine the outcome of the allegations against him.
