The Oyo State government has voiced its dissatisfaction regarding the exclusion of Governor Seyi Makinde from the recent flag-off ceremony of the Ibadan-Ijebu-Ode Road. The event, which took place in the Oluyole Local Government Area, was attended by notable figures including Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Minister of Works Dave Umahi, and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.

In a statement issued on Monday by the Commissioner for Information, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the state government criticized the decision to not invite Governor Makinde. Oyelade described the ceremony as lacking in substance, attributing this to the political motivations behind the exclusion. He stated that the event fell short of expectations due to a "desperate political undertone borne out of a lack of sagacity and confidence."

The Commissioner further emphasized the absurdity of the justification provided for the Governor's absence, which was said to be due to his leave of absence. He pointed out that there is a functional Acting Governor in place, making the decision to exclude Makinde even more questionable.

Despite the controversy, the Commissioner assured that Governor Makinde remains unfazed by the situation. He expressed regret that the event had devolved into a political spectacle rather than a genuine celebration of infrastructure development. Oyelade remarked, "The course of 2027 is set, and no level of indecorum or desperation from whatever quarters will hold back the will of the people."
