Senator Adeola confirmed as APC's official candidate for Ogun governorship amid Hunye's claims
The APC has disowned Abayomi Hunye, asserting that Senator Adeola is the legitimate candidate.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially disavowed Abayomi Hunye's assertion of holding the party's governorship ticket for Ogun State in the upcoming 2027 elections. This announcement was made by the party's National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Bashiru, in a statement released to the media in Abuja.
Senator Bashiru clarified that the party's consensus candidate for the Ogun governorship is Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, who emerged victorious in the primary election held in the state. This comes in response to Hunye's recent claims, where he expressed dissatisfaction with the primary process and indicated plans to challenge it in court.
The APC's statement emphasized that Hunye has been suspended from the party since April 2026, following a petition from his local ward in Ipokia Local Government Area. The suspension was confirmed by the Ogun State Working Committee and communicated to the national headquarters of the party. Senator Bashiru described Hunye as an "impostor" and stated that his self-declaration as the governorship candidate is "completely false, unauthorized, and a mischievous act aimed at misleading the public."
The party reiterated that Hunye lacks both the legal and moral standing to represent the APC in any capacity, as he was suspended due to grassroots decisions made by his ward executives. The statement further confirmed that Senator Adeola and his running mate, Balogun Kudirat Abiodun, have been officially recognized as the party's candidates for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, with their details already submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In light of Hunye's claims, the APC urged the public and party members to disregard any association with him, warning that any dealings with him under the guise of the APC would be at their own risk. The party also announced plans to initiate legal action against Hunye for misrepresentation and impersonation, and has instructed its legal team to file a formal complaint with relevant security agencies.
Senator Bashiru called on APC supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, while also encouraging them to ignore provocations from those attempting to disrupt the peace in Ogun State. He urged party members to seek clarification and updates directly from the APC National Secretariat.
