The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has raised serious allegations against the Vice Chancellor of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), Professor Princewill Chike, accusing him of being part of a conspiracy to manipulate the upcoming 2027 elections. This claim was made public by the party's Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi, during a press briefing where he presented evidence in the form of a video clip.

Enyi stated that Professor Chike is affiliated with the Rainbow Coalition, a political movement led by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. The ADC spokesperson expressed concerns that the Vice Chancellor's role in the coalition would influence the nomination of returning officers for the elections, potentially compromising the electoral process.

"The Vice Chancellor has publicly identified with the Rainbow Coalition, and there are indications that he will be nominating returning officers for the forthcoming election. This raises significant concerns about the integrity of the electoral process in Rivers State," Enyi asserted.

He further alleged that Professor Chike was not only appointed by Wike but was also imposed on the university, suggesting that his leadership is a direct result of political maneuvering. Enyi pointed to a signpost at the university's entrance that features the Vice Chancellor's picture alongside the caption, ‘Academia Rainbow Coalition of the Renewed Hope,’ as evidence of his political affiliations.

The ADC claims that the individuals Professor Chike will nominate as returning officers will likely be members of the Rainbow Coalition, which they believe poses a threat to free and fair elections. Enyi emphasized that the situation is alarming, stating, "It’s not even election time yet, but see what he is doing. During the election, all those who will be recommended are definitely going to come from the coalition."
