Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro elected unopposed as PENGASSAN president in Abuja
Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro has been elected the new president of PENGASSAN, succeeding Festus Osifo.

In a significant development for the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN), Bosun Olabiyi-Agoro has been elected as the new National President during the association's first Quadrennial Delegates Conference held in Abuja. His election was unopposed, marking a new chapter for the influential workers' group.
Olabiyi-Agoro, a seasoned Petroleum Engineer, takes over leadership from Festus Osifo, who is also the President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC). With over 20 years of experience in Nigeria's oil and gas sector, he currently works with the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). His extensive career includes roles at prominent companies such as Baker Hughes and EA Temile and Sons, showcasing a strong technical and operational background.
Educationally, Olabiyi-Agoro is well-equipped for his new role. He holds a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Aberdeen, a Post Graduate Certificate in Computing from London Metropolitan University, and a Bachelor of Technology degree in Chemical Engineering from Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso. Additionally, he is an alumnus of Government College Ibadan, further underscoring his strong academic foundation.
His leadership experience within organized labour is notable. Olabiyi-Agoro has served in various capacities within PENGASSAN, including as the National Financial Secretary from 2022 to 2023, National Auditor from 2020 to 2022, and Chairman of the Baker Hughes PENGASSAN Branch from 2016 to 2020. He is currently the Chairman of the TUC Oyo State Council, reflecting his active involvement in trade union activities.
Recognized for his clarity of purpose and commitment to workers’ welfare, Olabiyi-Agoro has participated in numerous local and international training programs focused on leadership, negotiation, and industrial relations. His election is expected to leverage his technical expertise and industry knowledge to enhance the welfare of PENGASSAN members.
In his acceptance speech, Olabiyi-Agoro emphasized his commitment to prioritizing workers' welfare and continuing the legacy established by his predecessor, Festus Osifo. His leadership is anticipated to bring a fresh perspective and renewed focus to the association as it navigates the challenges and opportunities within the oil and gas sector.
