Davido and Wande Coal's feud escalates with allegations of revenge porn
The ongoing conflict between Davido and Wande Coal intensifies as allegations of revenge porn surface.

A long-standing dispute between Nigerian music stars Davido and Wande Coal has erupted into a public confrontation on social media, raising serious concerns over allegations of revenge porn. The feud, which has captured the attention of fans and observers alike, centers around an unreleased collaboration that has now taken a personal turn.
The conflict began with Wande Coal's 2021 hit, 'Come My Way', for which Davido had recorded a verse that was never officially released. In a recent appearance on the Uncut podcast, Davido explained that Wande Coal had initially approached him for the collaboration. He claimed he delivered a strong verse but rejected the idea of releasing the original song first, suggesting that his contribution should be saved for a remix. Wande Coal, however, disputed this narrative, taking to social media to accuse Davido of trying to dictate the release strategy for a song that did not belong to him.
In a heated exchange on X, Wande Coal expressed his frustration, stating, "Carry song come give you as how? Song wey been get release plan and date!!! Song wey no be your own you wan dictate release plan. That song fkin did well without you on it bruv!!!" Davido retaliated with a jab that referenced a past controversy involving Wande Coal, suggesting that the older artist was not in a good mental state. He further accused Wande Coal of jealousy and shared a WhatsApp screenshot indicating that Wande had sought his phone number through mutual contacts.
As the quarrel escalated, Davido's reposting of alleged nude photographs linked to Wande Coal's past stirred significant backlash. Social media users quickly accused Davido of engaging in revenge porn, with many calling for accountability. The images spread rapidly, prompting discussions about the legal implications of such actions.
Legal expert Oluwatodimu Ige, known as Oga_thelawyer, weighed in on the situation, noting that Davido's actions could potentially attract serious legal consequences under Nigerian law. He referenced Section 24 of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act 2015, which addresses the intentional transmission of offensive or pornographic material. Ige emphasized that context matters, stating, "The fact that the repost occurred during a public quarrel, particularly where the surrounding circumstances suggest an intention to embarrass, insult, harass, intimidate or cause distress, makes the conduct legally more serious."
However, Ige also cautioned against hastily labeling the reposting of intimate photographs as revenge porn, pointing out that Nigerian legislation does not explicitly use that term. He explained that establishing the elements of the offense is crucial, and previous publication of an image does not grant perpetual consent for its dissemination.
The ongoing feud between Davido and Wande Coal highlights the complexities of public disagreements in the age of social media, where personal conflicts can quickly escalate and lead to serious allegations. As fans continue to engage in the conversation, the legal ramifications of the artists' actions remain a point of concern for many observers.
