The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled a comprehensive timetable for primary elections in response to the Independent National Electoral Commission's (INEC) recent decision to restore four previously suppressed State House of Assembly constituencies in Delta and Kogi states. This announcement marks a significant step as the party prepares for the upcoming electoral contests in 2026.

INEC's restoration of these constituencies includes Abraka, Isoko North II, and Ughelli South II in Delta state, along with Yagba West II in Kogi state. The APC has directed its state chapters in these regions to prepare for the primary elections in these areas, which are now eligible for participation in the electoral process.

In addition to the restored constituencies, the APC is also gearing up for legislative by-elections across four other states: Gombe, Bauchi, Delta, and Kano. The affected constituencies for these by-elections include Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency in Gombe state, Disina and Sakwa State Constituencies in Bauchi state, Udu State Constituency in Delta state, and Dawakin Kudu State Constituency in Kano state.

The party's national secretariat has emphasized that the primary elections will encompass a total of eight constituencies across five states, highlighting the APC's commitment to conducting a coordinated electoral process. By releasing a combined schedule for these elections, the APC aims to streamline its internal electoral activities and ensure a unified approach as it prepares for the 2026 elections.

This strategic move comes at a crucial time as the party seeks to solidify its presence and influence in these regions, particularly following INEC's recent interventions. The APC's organized timetable reflects its proactive stance in engaging with the electoral process, ensuring that all necessary preparations are in place for the upcoming contests.

As the timetable rolls out, party members and candidates are expected to mobilize and prepare for the primaries, which will play a pivotal role in determining the APC's candidates for the forthcoming elections. With the political landscape in Nigeria continually evolving, the APC's actions will be closely monitored as they navigate the challenges ahead.
