In the wake of a tragic attack that claimed the lives of 25 individuals in Bin Mper Community, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has made a commitment to bolster security measures in the region. The attack, which occurred on August 18, 2026, left several others injured and has drawn widespread condemnation from both the government and local leaders.

Governor Mutfwang visited the affected community on August 20 to express his condolences to the victims' families and to assure residents of his administration's dedication to their safety. During his visit, he described the assault as "barbaric, senseless and unacceptable," emphasizing that such violence is not just an attack on the community but a direct affront to his leadership.

In his address, the governor stated, "I pray that God will grant you peace and comfort," while confirming that law enforcement has made some arrests related to the incident. He pledged to pursue the matter rigorously until justice is served, reinforcing the government's resolve to protect lives and property in Plateau State.

Mutfwang highlighted that the attack occurred shortly after a review of the state’s security architecture with the new General Officer Commanding of the Nigerian Army's 3 Division. He assured the community that the government would implement additional strategies to prevent future attacks, particularly in vulnerable areas. "Nobody will take over your land," he declared, aiming to instill confidence among residents.

The governor also met with the paramount ruler of Mangu, Da John Putmang Hirse, to express his sympathy. Hirse condemned the attack as "senseless and deliberate," noting that many victims were asleep when they were killed. He emphasized that Mangu has historically been a peaceful area, known for its hospitality towards visitors.

In a show of solidarity, Mutfwang commended the youth of Plateau for their proactive stance in safeguarding their communities. He called for continued cooperation among community members, traditional institutions, government, and security agencies to effectively address the ongoing insecurity challenges.

As the community mourns the loss of life, Governor Mutfwang's visit and promises of enhanced security measures aim to reassure residents that their safety remains a priority for the state government. He concluded his visit by praying for the recovery of those injured and offering condolences to the bereaved families.
