Ambassador Ajadi demands Tinubu's resignation over NYSC abductions and insecurity
Following the kidnapping of 19 NYSC members, Olufemi Ajadi calls for President Tinubu to resign.

Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has called for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to resign, citing the government's inability to address the escalating insecurity in Nigeria. This demand comes in the wake of a shocking incident where 19 prospective National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members were abducted while traveling from Ibadan to orientation camps in Abia and Akwa Ibom states.
The abduction occurred on October 1, when gunmen attacked two buses carrying the young Nigerians along the Owerri-Onitsha Road in Umunoha, Imo State. Reports indicate that the kidnappers are demanding a ransom of N50 million for each victim, leading to a staggering total of N950 million that families of the abducted individuals are now pressured to raise.
Ajadi described the incident as both unacceptable and deeply troubling, particularly because the victims were young Nigerians on their way to serve their country. "It is ridiculous and unreasonable that corps members who are travelling to serve their motherland should be kidnapped. These are young Nigerians who have completed their education and are being deployed to contribute to the development of their country," he stated.
The APM candidate for Oyo Central urged President Tinubu to prioritize the immediate rescue of the victims, emphasizing that it is the government's responsibility to ensure the safety of its citizens, especially those serving the nation. "Mr. President must make the immediate rescue of these corps members a priority. It is the responsibility of the government to protect Nigerians, particularly young people who are travelling across the country in the service of their nation," Ajadi added.
Moreover, Ajadi warned that if the victims are not rescued promptly, President Tinubu should resign. He expressed that it is barbaric for the President to continue in office while young Nigerians remain in the hands of kidnappers. "If these corps members are unable to be rescued, then Mr. President should resign. It is barbaric for the father of the nation to continue his duty as President while some of his children are in the den of kidnappers," he remarked.
Ajadi's comments reflect a growing frustration among Nigerians regarding the government's handling of security issues. He criticized the administration for failing to take decisive action against the rising tide of insecurity, which has seen numerous abductions and violent incidents across the country.
In light of the recent events, Ajadi has also called for improved collaboration and decentralization in security operations to effectively combat the increasing violence and crime in Nigeria. He urged security agencies to intensify their search-and-rescue efforts until all abducted corps members are safely returned to their families, and appealed to the public for any information that could aid in their recovery.
