In a recent statement, Prince Samben Nwosu, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Anambra South Senatorial District in the upcoming 2027 elections, asserted that the party is not dead but actively searching for credible leadership. Speaking at his residence in Nnewi, Nwosu, who has previously served as the National Organising Secretary of the PDP and as a Federal Commissioner at the Public Complaints Commission, emphasized the party's robust grassroots presence across Nigeria.

Nwosu expressed confidence that many former PDP members who defected to other political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC), would eventually return. He described the PDP as the only political party with a significant presence in nearly every community, stating, "Out of every four compounds in Nigeria, PDP is in three." He reiterated that the party is currently focused on finding a trustworthy leader who can effectively guide it back to prominence.

The senatorial candidate, who is affectionately known as "Wadata Virus" among party members, highlighted that his selection as the party's candidate has already begun to attract former members back to the fold. He remarked, "Our party is intact; we are only afraid of being given a bad weapon that will destroy our hands."

Nwosu outlined his campaign agenda, which includes a strong emphasis on sustainable empowerment, job creation, and grassroots development. Drawing from his experience as a Business Development Service Provider licensed by the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN), he expressed his commitment to helping constituents build sustainable businesses.

He stated, "My motivation and plans are to deliver effective representation for the people. We will adopt a community-based approach to tackle the challenges in Anambra South." Nwosu also pledged to ensure that votes cast in the seven local government areas of the district—Aguata, Ihiala, Ekwusigo, Orumba North, Orumba South, Nnewi North, and Nnewi South—are counted accurately at polling units.

Addressing concerns about vote buying and electoral malpractice, Nwosu declared that the 2027 elections would not be business as usual. He urged voters to reject monetary inducements and to actively protect their votes on election day. "I am going to the Red Chambers of the National Assembly to serve and not to acquire wealth for my personal use," he emphasized.

Nwosu also referenced the recent Osun State governorship election, expressing his belief that financial influences would not sway the outcome of the Anambra South senatorial race. He dismissed the candidacies of opponents from the APC, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and National Democratic Congress (NDC), asserting that the PDP's grassroots connections and established structure would bolster his campaign efforts.

As the 2027 elections approach, Nwosu's commitment to integrity and effective representation could play a pivotal role in reshaping the political landscape in Anambra South and beyond.
