Chinese national detained in Lagos over allegations of sexual misconduct against employee
Bai Quang faces serious allegations after a Nigerian employee reported repeated sexual advances.

The Lagos State Police Command has detained a Chinese national, Bai Quang, following serious allegations of sexual assault made by his Nigerian employee, Charles Nwafor. The arrest came after Nwafor formally petitioned the police, claiming that Quang had made persistent unwanted sexual advances towards him and had assaulted him after rejecting those advances.
According to police sources, the alleged incidents included Quang pulling down Nwafor's trousers and touching him inappropriately. The situation escalated when Quang reportedly invited Nwafor to a hotel under the guise of discussing a business matter, where he allegedly attempted to coerce him into unwanted sexual acts. Nwafor resisted these advances, which he described as being against his will.
In the aftermath of the alleged assault, Quang is said to have threatened Nwafor and subsequently terminated his employment when he refused to comply with the demands. This prompted Nwafor to take action by reporting the matter to the police, leading to Quang's arrest.
Following the complaint, the Commissioner of Police for Lagos State, Fatai Tijani, ordered that the case be transferred from the Hausa Police Station to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba for a more thorough investigation. The case is currently being handled by the Diplomatic/Foreign Nationals Section of the SCID, overseen by Deputy Commissioner of Police Dayo Akinbisehin.
As part of the investigation process, the Chinese Embassy has been notified of Quang's arrest, in line with diplomatic protocols concerning foreign nationals. Police officials stated that they are working diligently to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine the appropriate legal actions to take against the suspect.
The ongoing investigation comes at a time when the Lagos State Police Command is restructuring the SCID to enhance its response to specialized crimes, including those involving foreign nationals. The Diplomatic/Foreign Nationals Crimes Section has been established to better manage such cases and improve coordination with embassies in Nigeria.
As the investigation continues, police have confirmed that Quang remains in custody while they work to gather more evidence and testimonies related to the allegations against him.
