In a significant move to bolster vocational training in the state, the Kano State Government has entered into a 20-year Memorandum of Understanding with the Aliko Dangote Foundation. This partnership aims to enhance the operations of the Aliko Dangote Skills Acquisition Centre, a facility designed to provide entrepreneurial and vocational training for the youth in Kano.

The agreement was formalized on Tuesday at the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, with key officials from both the Kano State Government and the Aliko Dangote Foundation in attendance. The state was represented by Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, and the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Abdulkareem Maude. The foundation was represented by its Programme Manager (North), Alhaji Sanusi Abdulkadir, and Programme Support Officer, Mustapha Umar.

Governor Yusuf, who was represented by the SSG during the signing ceremony, expressed optimism about the partnership. He stated that the involvement of the Aliko Dangote Foundation would significantly enhance the centre's capacity to deliver quality vocational training. "The foundation possesses the technical and managerial expertise needed to transform the centre into one of the leading entrepreneurial and vocational training institutions in Nigeria and the West African sub-region," the governor's statement noted.

The decision to transfer management of the skills acquisition centre to the foundation was made after thorough discussions by the State Executive Council. This strategic move aims to adopt best practices in vocational training, ensuring that the centre meets the growing demands for skill development among the youth.

Established under the administration of former Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, the Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre was named in honour of the renowned business mogul and industrialist, Aliko Dangote. The centre has been pivotal in providing training opportunities, and this new partnership is expected to further its mission of empowering the youth and enhancing their entrepreneurial skills.

With the foundation's resources and expertise, the Kano State Government anticipates a transformative impact on the skills acquisition landscape in the region, ultimately contributing to the economic development of the state and improving the livelihoods of its young population.
