The OK Movement is facing a significant leadership crisis following the resignation of its Director-General, High Chief Peter Ameh, which was announced on Tuesday in Abuja. This unexpected development has left supporters of the Peter Obi/Rabiu Kwankwaso National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential ticket in a state of uncertainty regarding the movement's future.

Ameh's resignation, effective immediately, was communicated through a letter sent to Vanguard. In his letter, he explained that stepping down was necessary to concentrate on his campaign for the Kogi East Senatorial District in the upcoming 2027 elections, where he is running as the NDC candidate.

He stated, "I hereby formally tender my resignation as Director-General of the OK Movement, effective immediately. This decision will enable me to devote the necessary time and energy to my campaign for the Kogi East Senatorial District, where I am the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC."

Despite his resignation from the OK Movement, Ameh reaffirmed his support for the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, whom he referred to as "My leader." He expressed his willingness to accept any successor appointed by Obi, emphasizing his ongoing commitment to the ideals that brought the movement together.

In his farewell note, Ameh expressed gratitude towards Obi, highlighting the latter's leadership qualities that inspired the formation of the OK Movement. He remarked, "I wish to express my profound gratitude to my leader, Mr. Peter Obi, for his exemplary leadership, unwavering integrity, and enduring credibility. These qualities inspired the formation of the OK Movement and have continued to shape its vision and purpose. I remain firmly committed to the ideals that united us and wish the OK Movement every success in its future endeavours."

The resignation comes at a critical time, as the movement has been embroiled in a leadership dispute, with some members expressing dissatisfaction with Ameh's leadership. As the 2027 elections approach, the OK Movement faces the challenge of resolving its internal conflicts to maintain its relevance and effectiveness in the electoral process.

With Ameh's departure, the future direction of the OK Movement remains uncertain, and it will be crucial for its members to unite and address the leadership issues that have surfaced. The coming weeks will likely be pivotal for the movement as it seeks to navigate this turbulent period and prepare for the elections ahead.
