Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, the Leader of the Senate and Chairman of the National Assembly South-West Caucus, has extended his congratulations to Governor Ademola Adeleke following his re-election in the recent Osun State governorship election. Bamidele's statement highlights the election results as a testament to the power of the electorate in a democratic system.

Adeleke, representing the Accord Party, secured 511,067 votes, defeating the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who garnered 444,815 votes. The African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salam, finished third with 17,180 votes. The election saw a voter turnout of 51.57%, based on the number of Permanent Voter Cards collected, emphasizing the active participation of citizens in the democratic process.

Bamidele emphasized that the election results reaffirm the principle that the ultimate authority in a democracy lies with the people. He urged all political actors to respect the will of the electorate, stating that the outcome should inspire reconciliation and foster inclusive governance in Osun State.

In his remarks, Bamidele noted that Adeleke's victory is accompanied by the responsibility to unify the state across political lines, advocating for governance that serves all citizens. He encouraged Adeleke to reach out to other candidates and political parties, suggesting that such gestures would promote peace and stability in the region.

He specifically called on Oyebamiji to set aside any grievances and collaborate with the newly re-elected governor to enhance the welfare of the people. "I strongly encourage the candidate of our great party, Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, to contact Governor Adeleke, congratulate him on his re-election and constructively share with him innovative policy ideas that can help him serve the interests of our people much better," Bamidele stated.

Bamidele also reflected on the lessons the APC can learn from this election, particularly as the party prepares for the 2027 general elections. He stressed the importance of strengthening campaign strategies and engaging with various stakeholders, including artisans, market women, and community leaders, to ensure that no group is left behind in the political discourse.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the successful conduct of the election, which he described as a clear demonstration of the people's choice. Bamidele concluded by expressing hope that Adeleke's re-election would lead to significant advancements in the economic, social, and technological landscape of Osun State, reinforcing the notion that the outcome of the election is not a defeat for the APC but an opportunity for collaboration and progress.
