Senator Lere Oyewumi, the Director General of the Imole Campaign Council and representative for Osun West, has strongly condemned recent attacks on the homes of several leaders of the Accord Party. These incidents occurred just before the Osun State governorship election, raising concerns about political violence in the region.

In a statement shared on X, Oyewumi described the attacks as "unwarranted, cowardly, and completely unacceptable in a democratic society." Following reports of vandalism and violence, he conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the affected residences in Ikire and Ikoyi, where he visited the homes of key political figures including Ambali Kondo, Owodunni Abiodun (also known as Wocco), and Taofeeq Ajagun (Ultimate).

The senator also inspected the residence of Akinola Paul (Halleluyah) in Ikire, the home of the Commissioner for Energy, Festus Adeyemo, and several others in the area. During his visit, Oyewumi assessed the damage inflicted on these properties and expressed his sympathy to the affected leaders and their supporters.

He emphasized that political differences should not lead to violence or intimidation, stating, "Democracy is built on tolerance, dialogue, respect for differing opinions, and the freedom of every citizen to support the political party or candidate of their choice." Despite the attacks, he praised the resilience and commitment of the affected leaders to their political beliefs.

Oyewumi urged law enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the incidents and ensure that those responsible are prosecuted. "I assured the victims, affected leaders, and residents that appropriate security and administrative channels will continue to be engaged to ensure that the perpetrators are identified and brought to justice," he said.

He also appealed to members and supporters of the Accord Party, as well as residents of the impacted local government areas, to maintain peace and avoid any retaliatory actions. "Violence will only deepen the pain and create further division among our people," he warned. Oyewumi called for a collective effort to uphold democracy through peaceful means, stressing that violence has no place in a free society.

In closing, he reiterated the need for a thorough and impartial investigation into the attacks, asserting that the community deserves peace and security, and that democracy must be protected at all costs.
