The Kano State Police Command has successfully arrested nine individuals in connection with armed robbery and livestock theft during recent operations across the state. The arrests occurred on August 13, 2026, following actionable intelligence provided by vigilant members of the community.

According to a statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, police operatives from the Dorayi Babba Division intercepted a suspicious parcel at Rijiyar Zaki Motor Park around 2:30 p.m. During this operation, they recovered a Tokarev pistol along with 48 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition. The suspect apprehended at the scene reportedly admitted to purchasing the firearm from another state and was in the process of transporting it for sale.

In a separate operation in Rogo Local Government Area, five suspects were arrested at Jajaye Village. The individuals, identified as Basiru Ibrahim (25), Saidu Madaki (23), Sa’adu Ibrahim (25), Lawan Yusuf (24), and Muktar Salisu (21), are believed to be linked to multiple cases of criminal trespass and armed robbery in the area. Preliminary investigations suggest that they are involved in the theft of five motorcycles and various other valuables.

Additionally, police recovered a stolen cow and ram in Gaya during their operations. Two suspects, Karimu Mamman and Madama, both from Jube Village, were found with the stolen livestock, leading to further inquiries that resulted in the arrest of two more alleged accomplices.

The suspects have been charged in court, and investigations are ongoing to identify additional members of the criminal syndicates involved. Kano State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, praised the community for their active participation and timely information, which he credited for the police's recent successes.

CP Bakori reiterated the commitment of the police force to community policing, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with other agencies to maintain safety and security in Kano State. He also commended the officers from the Dorayi Babba, Rogo, and Gaya Divisions for their professionalism and dedication to duty, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in combating crime.
