The newly appointed Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja, Professor Abdulrahman Shehu, has unveiled an ambitious reform agenda aimed at transforming the facility into a leading centre of excellence, with a renewed focus on staff welfare, infrastructure development, and quality healthcare delivery.

Professor Shehu made this known during an interaction with members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, in his office, where he outlined his administration’s commitment to repositioning the hospital through teamwork, professionalism, and patient-centred services.

He said members of staff remain the hospital’s greatest asset, stressing that creating a conducive working environment and boosting staff morale would be among his immediate priorities.

According to him, “A motivated workforce is essential to delivering efficient, quality and comprehensive healthcare services to patients.”

The CMD assured workers that his management would introduce measures aimed at encouraging them to give their best, noting that regular engagement with staff would foster unity, improve productivity, and strengthen the hospital’s operations.

As part of efforts to deepen interaction with employees, Professor Shehu disclosed that he had already commenced regular staff meetings and would make them a permanent feature of his administration to ensure effective communication, identify challenges, and collectively develop solutions.

Earlier, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, Comrade Segun Ademola Salami, lauded the efforts of the CMD, noting the progress he had made within a short time in office towards transforming the teaching hospital.

He charged the CMD to carry all members of staff along in his day-to-day activities to enable him to achieve his laudable programmes for the teaching hospital.
