Legend Hotel Airport Lagos, Curio Collection by Hilton, has expanded its meetings and events portfolio with the unveiling of the Herbert Wigwe Auditorium, a new conference facility aimed at strengthening Lagos’ position as a destination for business events.

According to a statement shared with Society Plus, the facility, named after the late banker and entrepreneur, Herbert Wigwe, is designed to host a wide range of corporate activities, including conferences, executive meetings, product launches, seminars and industry forums.

The development comes amid growing demand for premium event spaces in Lagos, driven by increased business travel, corporate engagements and international events in Nigeria’s commercial capital.

The statement added that the auditorium features contemporary interiors, advanced audiovisual technology and a flexible layout that can be adapted for different event formats, from private executive meetings to large-scale conferences.

The expansion also increases the hotel’s accommodation capacity from 54 rooms to 164 rooms, enabling event organisers to host multi-day conferences while providing accommodation for delegates within the same location.

Located about 10 minutes from the local and international terminals of the Murtala Muhammed Airport, the facility is expected to provide convenience for local and international guests seeking accessible venues for business gatherings.

Industry stakeholders have noted that proximity to airports has become an increasingly important factor for conference organisers in Lagos, where traffic congestion can significantly affect event schedules and attendee experience.

The unveiling adds to the growing investment in conference infrastructure across Lagos, as hospitality operators continue to develop facilities targeted at supporting business tourism and corporate events.
