In a remarkable display of football prowess, Italian side Como achieved a historic 9-1 victory over French club Lens in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The match, held at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis, saw Como dominate from start to finish, marking one of the most significant wins in the tournament's history.

Como's Anastasios Douvikas was the standout performer, netting a hat-trick that showcased his striking capabilities. The scoring began early, with Douvikas finding the net in the seventh minute after reacting quickly to a cross from Luis Milla, which had been set up by Máximo Perrone's clever play from a short corner.

The Greek forward doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, finishing from close range after Álex Valle had volleyed Nico Paz's delivery back across the goal. Paz himself joined the score sheet just before half-time, making it 3-0 with a powerful shot into the roof of the net, dedicating his goal to Jesús de Miguel, a player who tragically passed away earlier in the week.

Como continued their relentless assault in the second half, with Lucas Da Cunha scoring just two minutes after the restart. The Brazilian forward exchanged passes with Paz before slotting the ball into the bottom corner. Marc-Oliver Kempf added a fifth goal in the 53rd minute, heading in a cross from Milla.

Douvikas completed his hat-trick shortly after, running onto a pass from Paz and calmly finishing past goalkeeper Robin Risser to make it 6-0. The visitors were in full control, and Mattia Liberali extended the lead to seven in the 62nd minute with an angled shot after a swift counterattack.

Lens managed to pull one back in the 65th minute through Ruben Aguilar, who volleyed in from a corner. However, Como quickly restored their seven-goal margin with Martin Baturina scoring a one-on-one effort shortly after. The final touch to the rout came in stoppage time when 18-year-old Matteo Papaccioli scored on his debut, initially flagged for offside but confirmed by VAR.

This emphatic win not only highlights Como's attacking prowess but also extends their impressive run to six consecutive victories in all competitions. Under the guidance of coach Cesc Fabregas, the team has shown remarkable form, having previously secured victories against RB Leipzig and Manchester United by identical 4-1 scores in their European home matches. The triumph over Lens significantly bolsters Como's Champions League campaign, with Douvikas now having scored four goals in just four appearances this season, further establishing himself as a key player for the team.
