Pastor warns of planned attacks on Christians in Plateau State ahead of Christmas
A Plateau State pastor claims terrorists are plotting attacks on Christian communities this Christmas.

A pastor from Plateau State has issued a grave warning regarding a purported plot by terrorists to launch attacks on Christian communities during the upcoming Christmas season. Pastor Damian, in a video shared on social media, stated that credible intelligence suggests that Islamic extremists are preparing to execute a coordinated assault aimed at eradicating Christians in the region.
Pastor Damian alleged that these terrorists have been secretly convening meetings and channeling substantial funds to their operatives to acquire weapons and logistics necessary for their planned assaults. He drew a chilling parallel to the violence experienced in 2023, when over 1,000 Christians were reportedly killed in various attacks during the Christmas period.
In his video, Pastor Damian recounted a previous incident in Barkin Ladi where similar threats were made, stating, "We have heard this before. In Barkin Ladi, the rumor went round: 'You will run with your rice and meat in your pots.' We went to the Sector Commander and told him. And it came to pass. Just like December 2023. And this year is not an exception. We are hearing the same rumor again - that we will not live to enjoy our Christmas."
The pastor emphasized that the terrorists' strategy involves systematically targeting vulnerable communities, seizing land, and displacing local populations to impose an Islamic caliphate in Plateau State. He lamented the persistent violence, stating, "Every day in Plateau State, we wake up to a killing or killings. Christians are being killed by terrorists who want to grab our land and impose a caliphate. Christmas in Plateau is under threat. They have told us in clear terms that we will not live to witness this 2026 Christmas."
Recent months have seen a disturbing trend of violence against Christians in the region, with reported killings in areas such as Mangu, Barkin Ladi, Bassa, Riyom, and Bokkos. Pastor Damian highlighted the plight of local youths, particularly those involved in mining, who have faced attacks from armed groups, including Fulani militias. He described a tragic incident where young miners were ambushed and killed while relaxing at home after a day's work.
The pastor expressed frustration over the lack of effective government intervention, stating, "We have buried our youths, elderly, women, and children, and the government is not doing anything to help us. This is not just attacks. This is land grabbing. Changal has been taken; Aloghom has been taken; Gashish has been taken. Villages across Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Mangu, Bassa - completely taken over."
Pastor Damian called for prayers and support for the people of Plateau State, urging for an end to the persecution of Christians in the region. He questioned the effectiveness of the military and police forces, asking, "Nigeria is celebrated worldwide for keeping peace in other nations. What happened to that spirit at home? We have the military. We have the police. We have everything to secure this land. Yet Christians are killed daily by those who feel they have a monopoly of violence."
In closing, he appealed to the public, saying, "We are peace-loving people. We want peace. But how can there be peace when innocent boys with energy to transform Nigeria are killed in front of their own homes? Pray for Plateau. Speak for Plateau."
