The Niger State Police Command successfully rescued six farmers who were abducted by armed bandits in Mahangi village, near Pandogari, during a security operation on October 29, 2026. The operation involved collaboration between the police, military personnel, the Department of State Services (DSS), special hunters, and local vigilantes.

Following the abduction, security operatives tracked the suspected bandits to their hideout. The rescued farmers were subsequently taken to the police division for profiling before being reunited with their families. In the aftermath, the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Minna initiated an investigation into the incident.

This rescue operation was part of a broader series of security achievements reported by the Nigeria Police Force across six states within a span of 48 hours. In Zamfara State, for instance, police tactical teams, in conjunction with local vigilantes, rescued five elderly women who were abducted during an attack on a farm in Dansadau, Maru Local Government Area. This attack, which occurred on the same day as the rescue in Niger, resulted in the death of a 35-year-old farmer. The police engaged the attackers in a gun duel, compelling them to abandon the victims and flee.

The five women were found unharmed, and efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are ongoing through bush-combing and tracking operations.

In Kebbi State, security forces successfully repelled an attack by suspected Lakurawa fighters in Ribah town, Danko Wasagu Local Government Area, on October 30. The attackers regrouped and attempted to launch an assault from multiple directions after an earlier effort to block Rambo Junction was thwarted by security operatives. The police engaged the attackers, forcing them to retreat without any reported casualties among civilians or security personnel.

Meanwhile, in Katsina State, police foiled an attempted bandit attack on Karofi Village in Dutsin-Ma Local Government Area on October 29. Responding to a distress call, police tactical teams engaged the suspected bandits in a gunfight, resulting in the attackers fleeing into the bush. Following the incident, joint patrols and bush-combing operations were intensified in the area.

In Kano State, police arrested five individuals suspected of harboring criminals and recovered livestock and motorcycles during an operation linked to the abduction of Alhaji Abdu Fanka, the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman in Rogo Local Government Area. Although the main suspects managed to escape, five others were apprehended during a raid on a residence associated with them.

Additionally, in Lagos State, police arrested a 28-year-old suspected cultist in connection with an armed robbery that led to the death of a Point-of-Sale (POS) operator. The suspect, identified as Ojo/Ojomu Bolanle, was taken into custody following the robbery incident on October 31, where the victim sustained gunshot injuries and later died. A search of the suspect's premises yielded a locally made pistol, an expended cartridge, and other stolen items, prompting an investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department in Panti.

These operations highlight the ongoing efforts of security agencies in Nigeria to combat banditry and ensure the safety of citizens across various states.
