Troops successfully recover victims in two operations against banditry in Kebbi.

In a significant operation against banditry, troops from Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA successfully rescued 11 kidnapped victims in Kebbi State. The operations took place in the Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area on October 30 and 31, as confirmed by Lt-Col. Osoba Olaniyi, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for the 8 Division of the Nigerian Army.
The first operation was initiated in response to a distress call regarding armed bandits blocking a road leading to Ribah town. Upon arrival, the troops discovered that several civilians had been kidnapped and found abandoned motorcycles at the scene. Engaging the bandits in a firefight, the soldiers managed to force them to abandon seven victims. The individuals rescued during this encounter were identified as Sa’adu Bala, Dantani Yahyi, Nura Musa, Nasiru Muhammad, Abdulakeem Abubakar, Abdulahi Maikudi, and Zaki Gom. Following their rescue, they were promptly reunited with their families.
In a separate operation, troops were conducting patrols in the Wasagu area when they came under fire from terrorists. The soldiers responded effectively, causing the assailants to retreat and leave behind four victims who had been abducted from their farms in Wasagu village. The rescued individuals were Lawali Ali, Samaila Shuaibu, Kasimu Shuaibu, and Aliyu Bala, all residents of Wasagu village. They were subsequently handed over to the community head, ensuring their safe return.
Lt-Col. Olaniyi emphasized the army's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of communities in Kebbi, stating that the troops will continue to act swiftly against security threats. The successful rescue operations reflect the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian Army to combat banditry and protect civilians in the region.
