Oklahoma mother receives seven life sentences for daughter's abuse and childbirth
Cherie Walker was sentenced after her 11-year-old daughter gave birth to her husband's child.

A mother in Oklahoma has been sentenced to seven consecutive life terms after failing to protect her 11-year-old daughter from sexual abuse, which led to the child giving birth to her husband's baby at home without any medical assistance. Cherie Walker, aged 34, received the sentence from a Muskogee County judge on October 30, 2026, as reported by Oklahoma City Fox affiliate KOKL and confirmed by Muskogee County court records.
The disturbing case came to light in August 2025, when authorities discovered that Walker's daughter had given birth on August 16, 2025. The birth occurred at their home, raising serious concerns about the lack of prenatal care and medical support for the young girl. Walker and her husband, Dustin Walker, claimed they were unaware of the pregnancy until the child gave birth.
Muskogee County Assistant District Attorney Janet Hutson expressed the gravity of the situation, stating, "This child is traumatized. She's been through a horrific ordeal. I mean, not only has somebody gotten her pregnant, but she gave birth at home without medical assistance, and this will be her life for the rest of her life."
Further investigations revealed that DNA testing confirmed Dustin Walker as the biological father of the baby. Prosecutors argued that Cherie Walker was aware of the sexual abuse occurring within the household but took no action to protect her daughter. As a result, she was convicted on seven felony counts, including one count of child sexual abuse and six counts of child neglect, on July 17, 2026.
In a related development, Dustin Walker pleaded guilty to charges of felony child sexual abuse and neglect in March 2026, subsequently receiving a life sentence in prison. The case has drawn significant attention, highlighting the severe implications of child abuse and the responsibilities of parents to protect their children.
Additionally, the child's grandmother, Michelle Justus, has also been charged in connection with the case. Prosecutors allege that she was aware of the ongoing sexual abuse and failed to intervene, raising further questions about the family dynamics and the systemic failures that allowed such abuse to occur.
This case serves as a tragic reminder of the critical need for vigilance and intervention in situations where children are at risk, as well as the importance of holding accountable those who fail to protect vulnerable individuals.
