The Greek government has announced a detailed list of requirements for Nigerians living in Greece who need to validate their certificates for visa purposes. This announcement outlines the necessity of submitting eight specific documents, each with distinct certification rules applicable to various Greek ministries.

Among the primary documents required is a certified true copy of the applicant's criminal record, which must be authenticated by both the Greek Ministry of Justice and the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, applicants are required to provide a certificate of employment covering the last three years, also certified by the Greek Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. For those who are currently unemployed, an unemployment card along with a certificate of allowance is acceptable, provided these documents are certified by the Greek public employment service (OAED) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In terms of residence and financial documentation, applicants must submit a certified true copy of their Certificate of Permanent Residence and a certified true copy of their Residence Permit. Both documents must be authenticated by the relevant municipality and the Greek Ministry of Interior, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Furthermore, a certified true copy of the applicant’s visa is required, which must also be processed through the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Financial documentation is equally crucial. Applicants must present a certified true copy of a Tax Clearance Certificate, authenticated by the Greek Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, a certified true copy of a bank account statement must be verified by the issuing authority and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Another critical requirement is a letter of purpose, which must be written in Greek. This original letter, provided by the receiving authority requesting the validation, should clearly outline the purpose for which the documents will be used and must be certified by the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Greek authorities have emphasized that only original documents will be accepted during the submission process. Photocopies or uncertified duplicates will not be considered valid. In cases where an applicant cannot be present in person, a representative may submit the documents on their behalf, but only if they hold a certified Power of Attorney from the relevant issuing authority, the Greek Ministry of Justice, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This comprehensive set of requirements aims to streamline the process for Nigerians seeking validation of their certificates in Greece, ensuring that all submissions adhere to the strict regulations set forth by Greek authorities.
