In a significant military operation, Nigerian Navy Marines, in collaboration with the 403 Amphibious Brigade of the Nigerian Army, have successfully neutralized 34 terrorists associated with ISWAP and Boko Haram in the Lake Chad region. This operation is part of the ongoing Operation Hadin Kai, aimed at combating terrorist activities in the area.

The operations, which took place on October 28 and 30, 2026, were driven by intelligence-led strategies. Navy Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, the Director of Information, reported that the initial phase of the operation on October 28 resulted in the death of eight terrorists. However, a subsequent assessment revealed that the total number of terrorists killed had risen to 28.

On October 30, the Navy Marines executed a precision strike on a Boko Haram enclave located in Dumba, following extensive Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions that identified and monitored terrorist movements. This operation reportedly resulted in the neutralization of six additional terrorists, while several others sustained injuries. The casualty figures are still undergoing verification as operational assessments continue.

The establishment of the Nigerian Navy Marines has proven to be a pivotal enhancement to the military's capabilities under Operation Hadin Kai. Their presence has significantly improved the ability to conduct offensive operations against terrorist factions, disrupt their activities, and restrict their movements within the Lake Chad area. This strategic deployment aims to degrade the operational capabilities of Boko Haram and ISWAP, ultimately contributing to the restoration of peace and stability in the North East region of Nigeria.

The Nigerian Navy has reiterated its commitment to supporting joint military operations through sustained offensive actions and intelligence-driven engagements. These efforts are crucial for strengthening national security and safeguarding vulnerable communities from terrorist threats.
