Olusanya Samuel, a Nigerian pedicurist popularly known as Sam Pedicures, is gearing up to break a Guinness World Record for the longest pedicure marathon by an individual. The ambitious attempt will take place at Njay Beauty Spa & Salon in Akure, Ondo State, from October 29 to 31, 2026.

Samuel, who graduated in Anatomy from the Federal University Oye Ekiti (FUOYE), aims to complete a remarkable 48-hour pedicure marathon. This event is not only a personal challenge for him but also a platform to showcase the potential of Nigeria's beauty and wellness industry. In a statement released on Tuesday, he emphasized the importance of raising awareness about foot care and hygiene.

With a deep understanding of human physiology, thanks to his academic background, Samuel believes that his knowledge significantly enhances his pedicure practice. "My background in anatomy gave me a deeper understanding of human physiology and foot care structure," he stated. Samuel's entrepreneurial journey began during his second year at university when he started learning manicure and pedicure techniques. Over the past five years, his side hustle has blossomed into a full-fledged brand, Sam Pedicures, dedicated to promoting foot hygiene and professional foot care.

The record attempt is not just about breaking a record; it is also aimed at inspiring young Nigerians to pursue practical skills and entrepreneurship alongside their formal education. Samuel's story is a testament to the idea that young people do not have to wait for job opportunities; they can create their own paths through skill mastery and innovation.

To make the event even more engaging, organizers have planned a variety of activities, including live entertainment, a red-carpet experience, food, drinks, and free pedicure sessions for attendees. This initiative is expected to draw significant attention, not only to Samuel's record attempt but also to the broader personal care industry in Nigeria.

Samuel's upbringing in Ondo State, where he completed both his primary and secondary education, has influenced his commitment to his craft. He is the son of Olusanya Adeleke from Epe, Lagos State, and Adubi Mercy from Akunu Akoko, Ondo State. As he prepares for this monumental event, Samuel hopes to leverage the global spotlight associated with a Guinness World Records attempt to further promote Nigeria's burgeoning personal care sector.
