Kwara Polytechnic to impose monthly fee on unclaimed certificates starting January 2027
Graduands and alumni of Kwara State Polytechnic are urged to collect their certificates before a new fee takes effect.

Kwara State Polytechnic in Ilorin has announced a new policy regarding unclaimed certificates, which will come into effect on January 1, 2027. The management has issued a final notice to all graduands and alumni, urging them to collect their certificates before the deadline to avoid incurring a monthly charge of ₦2,000 for unclaimed documents.
In a statement released by Mr. Saka Eletu, the Deputy Registrar of the Examinations and Records Division, it was highlighted that many certificates have remained uncollected for years, despite the critical role these documents play in employment, further studies, and professional advancement. The notice emphasizes the importance of retrieving these certificates, which include Diploma, Higher Diploma, National Diploma (ND), Higher National Diploma (HND), and Postgraduate Diploma (PGD).
Graduands and alumni are encouraged to collect their certificates at the Examinations and Records Division during official working hours before the end of the year. The deadline for collection is set for December 31, 2026, after which the demurrage fee will be applied to any certificate that remains unclaimed.
To collect their certificates, individuals must present specific documents including the Original Statement of Result, a valid means of identification, and proof of payment for the certificate. The Polytechnic has also provided contact numbers for further inquiries, allowing concerned parties to reach out via WhatsApp at 08168515577 or 08069505277.
This initiative aims to reduce the backlog of unclaimed certificates and ensure that former students can access their important academic credentials without incurring additional costs. The management of Kwara State Polytechnic is hopeful that this notice will prompt timely action from all affected graduands and alumni.
