In a significant security operation, the Nigerian Army has arrested three individuals suspected of terrorist activities in the Jakura Hills area of Lokoja Local Government Area, Kogi State. The arrests took place on Saturday by troops from Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), which is actively deployed in the region to combat insurgency and terrorism.

The operation was reported by Zagazola Makama, a noted counter-insurgency and security expert who specializes in the Lake Chad region. According to security sources, the suspects were apprehended based on credible intelligence regarding their involvement in activities linked to terrorism.

Currently, the identities of the arrested suspects have not been disclosed, nor have the specific details of their alleged activities come to light. The military has confirmed that the suspects are now in custody, where they will undergo further investigation to ascertain their roles and connections to broader terrorist networks.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Nigerian military to address security challenges in the region, particularly as Kogi State has been increasingly targeted by various criminal elements. The presence of troops in the area is part of a larger strategy to ensure the safety and security of residents while dismantling potential threats.

As the investigation continues, local authorities and security agencies remain vigilant in monitoring the situation, aiming to prevent any escalation of violence and to maintain peace in the community. The Nigerian Army's proactive measures are crucial in the fight against terrorism and related crimes in the country.
