The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 20-year-old man, Mujahid Danjuma, in connection with the alleged defilement of a seven-year-old girl in the Dass Local Government Area. This arrest is part of the police's ongoing efforts to combat crime in the region, as confirmed by the command's spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib.

The incident reportedly occurred on September 25, 2026, when the victim's mother, aged 30, filed a complaint with the police on September 28. She alleged that Danjuma lured her daughter into an unfinished building and committed the act. Following the incident, the girl was taken to the General Hospital in Dass, where medical examinations confirmed signs of penetration.

After committing the alleged crime, Danjuma fled the scene, but police efforts led to his arrest in the early hours of October 13, 2026. SP Habib noted that the arrest was achieved through intelligence-led policing and sustained efforts by the police.

In a separate incident, the police also arrested two men on October 12 for possession of suspected Indian hemp. The suspects, 27-year-old Iliyasu Yakubu and 25-year-old Zakariya Ibrahim, were apprehended during a routine patrol by a team from the Duguri Division. They were found with dry leaves believed to be narcotics, and investigations are ongoing.

The police command has reiterated its commitment to tackling criminal activities in the state. Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, assured the public of their resolve to eliminate crime and urged parents and guardians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies. All arrested suspects will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution.
