The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended a 30-year-old man, Mohammed Sani Abubakar, following an alleged attack on his 20-year-old neighbor in Toro Local Government Area. The incident, which has raised concerns about community safety, occurred after Abubakar accused the victim of trying to entice his wife.

According to the police spokesperson, SP Nafiu Habib, the attack took place on October 11, 2026. The victim reported that Abubakar had lured him to his home under the false pretense of delivering a message. Once there, he was confronted with the accusation and subsequently attacked with a cutlass, resulting in a deep cut on his left hand. The assailant also struck him on the armpit with a horn.

The situation escalated as Abubakar reportedly followed the victim as he made his way to the police outstation, where he was assaulted again. The victim managed to reach the Rahama Police Outstation under Rishi Division, where he sought help. Police officers quickly responded to the distress call, rescuing the victim and transporting him to the Rahama Primary Health Centre for urgent medical treatment. He is currently admitted and is reported to be responding well to care.

The police acted swiftly, arresting Abubakar and recovering the cutlass used in the attack as evidence. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Bauchi for further investigation and prosecution.

Bauchi's Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, emphasized the command's commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of residents. He reiterated a zero-tolerance policy towards criminal activities and encouraged the public to remain law-abiding while providing timely information to the police to aid in maintaining peace in the community.
