During the TEDxEnugu conference held at the International Conference Centre in Enugu State, Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, emphasized the need for a significant mindset shift among the Igbo people. He urged Ndigbo, both within Nigeria and in the Diaspora, to move away from fragmented individual pursuits towards structured collective institutions that can drive sustainable progress.

In his address titled "Transcend Beyond Borders: The Next Chapter in the Igbo Story," Soludo highlighted that while many Ndigbo are achieving personal success, there exists a collective vacuum that hinders broader community advancement. He stated, "Ndigbo are succeeding as individuals, but there is a collective vacuum. Our individual success does not lead to much until we unite collectively."

Soludo pointed out that over 50% of the Igbo population resides outside the South-East region, stressing the urgent need for these individuals to reconnect with their roots. He called for a proactive approach to economic development, urging the Igbo community to focus on creating powerful institutions rather than relying solely on individual brilliance. He posed a thought-provoking question, asking, "When are we going to go beyond ‘Okonkwo and Sons’ to ‘Enugu Plc’?"

The governor's remarks resonated with the audience as he encouraged young Ndigbo to rethink their approach to enterprise and economic growth. He advocated for a shift towards high-value knowledge acquisition, skill development, and strategic alliances that could enhance their contributions to both the local and global economy. Soludo remarked, "We should be busy creating millions of Elon Musks."

In addition to urging the youth to engage in public service, which he described as "the greatest form of philanthropy," Soludo expressed confidence that by fostering collective enterprise and investing in their homeland, the Igbo people could redefine their narrative. He stated, "It is possible" to reshape the trajectory of the South-East region, emphasizing the importance of moving past historical grievances to focus on actionable development.

The TEDxEnugu event also featured contributions from notable figures, including Prof. Pat Utomi, who echoed the call for strategic organization and economic diplomacy. The conference concluded with a strong appeal for the global Igbo Diaspora to leverage their collective resources and actively participate in building a prosperous and sustainable South-East for future generations. Soludo's address served as a rallying cry for Ndigbo to unite and reclaim their identity, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose that can transcend borders.
