The Aliko Dangote Foundation has launched a significant share subscription grant initiative aimed at empowering Nigerian women, specifically including policewomen and military personnel among the beneficiaries. This program is designed to increase women's participation in Nigeria's capital market, particularly targeting low- and middle-income earners as well as vulnerable women.

The initiative is part of the ongoing Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE, which aims to reach up to two million Nigerian women. Eligible participants can access grants to acquire shares in the Dangote refinery, promoting equity ownership and fostering long-term investment opportunities. The foundation's goal is to create pathways for wealth creation through active participation in the capital market.

According to the foundation, the program is open to independent women earning N100,000 or less per month, as well as verified participants from designated Aliko Dangote Foundation (ADF) programs such as CRoWN, ADFIN, and Mu Shuka Iri. Additionally, the initiative includes non-commissioned servicewomen, service spouses, and verified service widows. An official from the Dangote Group confirmed that policewomen and military women fall under the category of eligible non-commissioned servicewomen.

To facilitate participation, the foundation has outlined specific grant options. Independent applicants who subscribe to a minimum of 10 shares will be eligible for an ADF-funded application for an additional 10 shares under the matching grant track. Alternatively, under the unconditional grant track, eligible beneficiaries can receive funding for 20 shares without any conditions, provided they meet the necessary eligibility criteria and complete the required identity verification processes.

The foundation has emphasized that all grant funds will be applied directly through the designated issuing house, ensuring that no cash will be distributed to beneficiaries or third parties. Shares successfully allotted will be credited directly to the beneficiaries and held in their names, reinforcing the foundation's commitment to transparency and security in the process.

To qualify for the program, applicants must be Nigerian women aged 18 years and above, reside in Nigeria, and fulfill the eligibility requirements for their respective categories. The foundation has also clarified that beneficiaries can only receive one ADF share grant across all its schemes.

The initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Vetiva Capital Management and the Nigerian Exchange Group, utilizing the Securities and Exchange Commission-approved IPO subscription infrastructure. Importantly, applicants do not need an existing Central Securities Clearing System account, as accounts will be created through Vetiva after the completion of the IPO's Know Your Customer (KYC) requirements.

As the application period draws to a close on October 13, the foundation has urged potential participants to be cautious of fraud. It has advised applicants to refrain from making payments to agents or individuals for grants and to verify any unexpected payment requests through official channels. This initiative reflects the foundation's ongoing commitment to inclusive economic empowerment and expanding investment opportunities for women across Nigeria.
