A 21-year-old man, Ayomide Adebayo, has been arrested by the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, known as So-Safe Corps, for allegedly breaking into a house in Atan-Ota while the homeowner was attending church on Sunday.

According to a statement from the State Commander, Soji Ganzallo, the incident occurred at a residence in Asore, Atan-Ota. The suspect reportedly jumped over the fence to gain unlawful access to the property. Upon entering, he is said to have stolen various household items, including rice, bread, cooking pots, and an undisclosed amount of money.

The situation came to light when the homeowner returned from church around 1:30 PM and noticed that the gate, which he had locked before leaving, was now locked from the inside. This raised his suspicions, prompting him to investigate further. Upon entering the premises, he discovered Adebayo inside the house and raised an alarm, which attracted the attention of nearby residents.

Officers from the So-Safe Corps were quickly mobilized to the scene, where they found Adebayo, who had reportedly been beaten by the homeowner and other community members prior to their arrival. During questioning, Adebayo confessed to removing the window burglary protection to gain entry into the home.

Following the incident, the suspect was taken into custody for further investigation and subsequently handed over to the Nigeria Police Force at the Atan Divisional Headquarters for appropriate legal action.

In light of this incident, Commander Ganzallo emphasized the importance of community vigilance and urged residents to report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods. He also advised against taking the law into their own hands, highlighting the agency's commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Ogun State.
