The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that all 25 individuals aboard its ATR 42 aircraft, NAF 931, have died following a tragic crash in the Igbokoda area of Ondo State. The aircraft was on a routine flight from Benin to Lagos when the incident occurred.

Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, the Chief of the Air Staff, expressed deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the deceased. In a statement released by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF, the CAS described the event as a profoundly painful moment for both the Air Force and the nation, extending heartfelt sympathies to those affected.

The aircraft was carrying five crew members and 20 passengers at the time of the crash. The crew included Squadron Leader MI Aburime as the Flight Captain, along with Squadron Leader AP Man-Ugwueje and Flight Lieutenant IS Bako as co-pilots, and two aircraft technicians, Warrant Officer Abubakar A and Corporal Uguru HC.

Among the passengers were several military personnel, including Flight Lieutenant TL Lazarus and Flight Lieutenant M Akinloye, as well as civilians such as Mrs. Ezeh Nneka and Joy Micheal. The complete list of victims has been released by the NAF, highlighting the tragic loss of life in this incident.

In response to the crash, search-and-rescue operations were immediately initiated in coordination with relevant authorities. Unfortunately, no survivors have been found. Air Marshal Aneke has directed a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The NAF has committed to providing timely updates as the investigation unfolds and has urged the public to avoid speculation and the sharing of unverified information. They also emphasized the importance of respecting the privacy of the families affected by this tragedy.

This incident marks a significant loss for the Nigerian Air Force and raises concerns about aviation safety within the country. The NAF's assurance of support to the bereaved families reflects its commitment to stand by those impacted during this difficult time.
