The Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom in Abia State is in mourning following the death of its Paramount Ruler, Eze Kalu Ukoha, who passed away at the age of 89. His death was officially confirmed by the executive members of the Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU) and the Council of Chiefs and Elders in the community.
Eze Ukoha, who ruled for an impressive 35 years, died on September 26, 2026. The announcement was made public by Ifeanyi Okali, the Publicity Secretary of the community, who expressed the collective grief felt by the people of Ebem Ohafia. He stated, “Until his passing, HRH Eze Ukoha was the Ezieogo/Paramount Ruler of Ebem Ujuruezie, Ohafia, and Kpoke I of Ekeluogo Ebem Autonomous Community.”
During his reign, Eze Kalu Ukoha was known for his commitment to maintaining peace within the community. He actively campaigned against drug abuse among the youth and took a strong stance against criminal activities, refusing to honor individuals suspected of wrongdoing.
