Nollywood actress Ruth Kadiri has made a passionate appeal to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to take decisive action against the alarming rise of counterfeit and potentially harmful products in Nigeria. In a heartfelt video shared on her Instagram account, Kadiri highlighted the dangers posed by fake food, drinks, medicines, cosmetics, and household items, which she claims are endangering the lives of Nigerians.

Kadiri expressed her deep concern about the safety of everyday products that many citizens unknowingly purchase, believing them to be safe. She stated, "Every day, people buy food, drinks, medicine, cosmetics, and household products believing that they are safe, but sadly, some are poorly produced, contaminated, harmful and mostly fake. This is not just a business problem; it’s a threat to human life."

The actress recounted a personal experience that underscored her fears, revealing that after blending garlic, she noticed a disturbing change in its color shortly after leaving it unattended. This incident, she says, reflects a broader issue that many consumers face, leading her to feel apprehensive about purchasing packaged drinks for her children due to concerns about their safety.

Kadiri's plea comes at a time when public health is increasingly at risk from the influx of counterfeit products in the market. She urged NAFDAC to prioritize the health and safety of Nigerians, stating, "NAFDAC, please pay attention to the lives of Nigerians. Lots and lots of people are sick and are not getting better."

The actress's call to action has resonated with many Nigerians who share similar concerns about the integrity of products available in the market. As the issue of counterfeit goods continues to escalate, the role of regulatory bodies like NAFDAC becomes even more critical in ensuring public safety and maintaining consumer confidence in local products.

Kadiri's video has sparked discussions across social media platforms, with many users expressing their support for her initiative and sharing their own experiences with counterfeit products. The urgency of the situation calls for immediate attention from both the government and consumers to combat the proliferation of fake goods that threaten health and safety across the nation.
