Badiru Aishat Olaitan, a 20-year-old graduate of Osun State University (UNIOSUN), has made headlines by graduating with a First Class Honours degree in Economics, achieving a remarkable CGPA of 4.66 out of 5.0. Aishat distinguished herself as the best graduating student in both her department and the Faculty of Social Sciences during the university's recent graduation ceremony.

Aishat's academic journey is particularly inspiring as she initially embarked on her education as a science student. However, her passion for Economics prompted a significant change in her academic path. She explained that her switch was not due to any struggles in science but rather a newfound love for Economics, which she discovered during her secondary school years.

In a heartfelt message shared on her TikTok page, Aishat reflected on her academic journey, stating, "I started as a science student and switched paths along the way, not because I hated science or wasn't doing well in it, but because I found passion elsewhere." This passion, she believes, was the key to her success, as she emphasized the importance of genuine interest in achieving academic excellence.

At the graduation ceremony, Aishat was honored with two prestigious awards: Best Graduating Student in the Department of Economics and Best Graduating Student in the Faculty of Social Sciences. Her achievements are a testament to her hard work and dedication throughout her studies.

In her celebratory post, Aishat expressed gratitude to her friends and family for their unwavering support. She acknowledged the challenges she faced and the uncertainty that accompanied her decision to switch fields. "That little girl would be so proud. She was so unsure, but she did it anyway," she wrote, highlighting her journey of self-discovery and determination.

Looking to the future, Aishat is not resting on her laurels. She is currently pursuing additional qualifications, aiming to become a Chartered Accountant. Her credentials now include a BSc in Economics (First Class Honours), AMNES, AAT, and ACA (in view).

Aishat concluded her post with an inspiring message about her ongoing journey: "This isn't the beginning of my story, nor is it the end. This is just a chapter, and so, the story continues." Her story serves as an encouragement to many young Nigerians, illustrating that passion and dedication can lead to remarkable achievements in academia and beyond.
